Stampin' Up has put some ultimatums on us demonstrators...although I understand why they are doing it, I also feel conflicted about it...as you can tell, I'm a "hobbiest"! I will continue to be a demonstrator, but I will no longer be doing my blog. I have several friends who may not just use Stampin' Up so I can't even link to them....so I will neither promote Stampin' Up! nor will I promote anyone else...that's fair right? So goodbye blog world...it was good while it lasted!

I made this card (times 4) for the girls that gave me birthday presents...ashamedly, it's over a month late...Love you girls, tho!

I used an embossing folder and just pimped out the flowers with micro beads and Crystal effects...I used the oval scallop punch and the medium sized oval punch for the sentiments...and ribbon punch. Hope you likey!!!

This is my 4th scrap class page and the girls had fun!!! I love this stamp set...SU! Branch Out, which is retired...it didn't last long in the catalog. We used a lot of heat embossing!

For those of you that have come here before and are wondering wuz up???? Well, did I tell you I had another son? He's great and he is turning 15 in 2 days! We have been sooo busy this summer. In the last few weekends we have been camping (which involved a monsoon) and went to Gatlinburg. Trying to get a little fun in before school...Hope you all had a good one! The adoption is going well and should be done soon...we are allowed to make most of the decisions regarding Clyde so I thought I'd let you see him! He's grown up so much since we have had him!

Well, this month went a whole lot better than last month! We will see what happens next month...I used a sketch from a scrap mag...not sure which one...either Scrapbooks Etc. or Creative Keepsakes? Obviously, the theme was red, white and blue. One girl was smart, she didn't have that exact theme so she brought "Girls" printed out, instead of using my "July", but she used the happy stamp so it read "happy girls"! I thought she was clever for thinking ahead! Now, to think of one for next month??? Any ideas for a theme? I have been wanting to do the 4 seasons, so I may do that! But please give some ideas...

This is my first night where I'm actually bored! I'm tired, but bored...Mark's asleep on the couch along with Jake...Mollie's on the floor, sleeping...not sure where Bryan is in the house...probably on the phone talking to his girlfriend...Clyde's asleep...think I should get a clue and go to sleep? Hope you all are doing good! I really need to do something creative! I just got a load of stuff from Stampin' Up! I made this card for a cute little girl! Happy 4th Birthday? I asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she said,"A yellow fish!" So guess what she's getting from Auntie Bekki??? Well, hopefully I can find a yellow fish that goes in a very small fish tank. I think they got her a one gallon...

We've been going thru an additional change in our household...we now have a 14 yr. old, soon to be 15 yr. old boy! His name is Bryan...but sometimes we call him Eric, or David...I'm getting better. It's been quite an adjustment for us...he's very good, well mannered, smart and a hard worker! He's so much more mature than Clyde, it's hard to deal with in some ways and then not in others...he has a girlfriend (which is something we have never had to deal with before)...he wants to go hang out with his friends at the mall (again something we haven't had to deal with till now), he wants to go to Southwestern and not Pulaski High and he's trying to figure every which way he can to still go there (I can relate in that way, I walked a mile to and from school everyday because I didn't want to go to Somerset)! It's just totally different. I was thinking a 14 year old would be good for Clyde... they can play together, but he's in a totally different league! He doesn't watch TV, which is good, but a little weird, but he'll play Rock Band forever (which he totally Rocks at...he plays on expert and gets 90's!)! Please keep us in your prayers as we are walking on new ground here...eek! It also looks like Mark will be laid off for 3 months...I am praying that something will happen with that...he gets a better job...God knows the plans He has for us, plans to prosper us, not to harm us, plans for a hope and a future! -Jeremiah 29:11

So sorry I have been neglecting my blog! I have facebook now and have been faithful on it...Here, I feel I only get lookers when I make something...there I can just chat...

Let's play catch up...my husband has been laid off going on 3 weeks starting next week, so that's been a distraction as well. My kid is now off from school...and I have had an addition the last couple of days. I am doing respite for a very well-mannered 16 year old! He's been a joy to have...maybe I should only take older teens from now on. :) We had a yard sale today and woopee... I hate to have a yard sale...going is alot more fun! The good thing was that I didn't have to put too much time in preparing for it. I hardly labeled anything and that made it sooo much easier. From now on, that will be how I do all my yard sales! Or maybe I should just go straight to Good Will like one of my friends suggested...

2nd Scrap Class

My second scrap class and only one other person showed up...woohoo! We used a sewing machine, circle scissors, stamps, cuttle bug, water color pencils, aqua painters and a crop-a-dile.

No, Clyde doesn't have 5 eyes...I distorted his face, so you can't see it...since we are in the pre-adoptive stage it's probably ok to post pics now, but I am not sure.

I got a sketch from Scrapbooks etc. and ran with it...it was fun to do.

We were getting stuff out of our storage unit and found mice droppings everywhere... (Advice: only put your stuff in plastic tubs, not cardboard boxes! Clyde held this one box that contained our little friend up over his head, then dropped it sideways on the ground...there were all kinds of paper shredded and mouse poop, so I thought we might find a mouse...instead we found his predator. That thing slid over Clyde's foot and I ran the other way screaming at the top of my lungs!!! I was boot scootin' it! Clyde was laughing his head off at me and this is were it would have made a GREAT funniest home videos!

You can get these kits from Wal-Mart...they should pay me, huh? It's very easy, only $5 and hopefully when all is said and done you have yummy herbs! It comes with the tub, soil and seeds! You actually have enough seeds to plant elsewhere if you like!

I am hoping that Kris Allen is the next American Idol!!! I am watchin' right now...Go Kris!!! He just rocked a song with Keith Urban! He would make a great country singer. He is a Praise and Worship leader in Arkansas and his pastor is an accountability partner to our pastor! B is for...baby, Bekki, uh Burton...it's been a few weeks since I have done any challenges, so I combined The Pink Elephant challenge with the Cupcake Challenge...

The Pink Elephant challenge was to do a Monogram, while the Cupcake challenge was a sketch.

Tools: Flowers daisy #2 (the small daisy 3x) die, nestabilities square and scallop square, Big Shot, texture plate with the big dots (I used the opposite side and used a stencil to fill it in with chocolate chip marker), and I used the new scallop punch.

Accessories: Parisian Breeze paper, buttons latte, and the "B" is Chip Chatter.

I am LOVING being a stay at home mom...However, the mom part will really begin when school lets out for summer and I have a kid 24/7! Yikes! Any ideas on how to keep a 13 year old entertained? I did get season passes to a nearby waterpark, so that will help. I think I have 10 more days of freedom. Right now, though, I am working out, going to a weekly Bible study, monthly scrap class, cleaning house and taking it easy on my swing that I got on Mother's day! I have all kinds of ideas to fix up the house...paint the cabinets, fix the carport, make a portico, put up new shutters, put in new windows, put in central heat and air, replace the doors...can you tell I've been watching HGTV? You know what's really sad? We have been here 10 years in December and we haven't done a whole lot to fix it up. I am secretly hoping someone will just want my house as is, and they can fix it up. But wake up, Bekki!!! I want to move soooo bad and these shows are motivating me to do some work around here. Help me Jesus!

I have some good news regarding Clyde...it looks like we will be adopting him! I am happy that he will have a sense of stability and he/we won't have to wonder what's going to happen...this process should be finished within the next few months. There are so many things that a foster child can't do and this is what really excites Clyde about the adoption. Right now, he can't mow the lawn, ride a 4 wheeler, ride a horse, ride on a boat, etc, etc, etc...but when the adoption goes thru we will be the deciding factor, not the state. Don't get me wrong, I understand why they won't let them do some things, but others??? Oh, and I can't post pictures of him...I can't wait to be able to show him to you all! It's weird that you all don't know what he looks like when he's been living with us almost 2 years! Soon my friends, soon! Many blessings to you all!

I had so much fun doing these pages...I cut out the ice cream free style. It made me nervous at first, but I got over it and just did it! I am pleased...

This page was actually not taken on the 6th of May, but I journaled about the 6th. That was the day that Johnny would not get ice cream out of her cute little head! Every time she came into the room from playing in my room or Clyde's she'd say,"Momma, I'm ready for ice cream now!"

Wow! This card was so sweet and simple to make! I received the "Note of Thanks" for free and used one out of the four cards, for my "thank you" to my hostess! This set is great and cheap! You get 1 double mounted stamp, an ink spot (chocolate chip), 4 cards (2 3/4"x4") and 4 envelopes for only $10!

I used the Flower, Daisies #2 (Big Shot) for the flower and repeated it 3 times. Then, I centered the flower with the "bouquet of buttons" in Baja Breeze. I put foam dots underneath "a little note of thanks" for a boost. Oh, and of course, I used Swiss dots (CB) for the background. Speaking of background...I like to make my envelopes pretty too, so I used some stamp set (not sure what brand-sorry) for her name, but used the Petal Pizzazz stamp for the "O" in Mona...hope you enjoyed!

Reusing a Ferrero box...

The Pink Elephant's #11 challenge is to Reuse/Recycle something...so I chose to reuse this box that I received at Christmas time...I thought it would make a great embellishment box and I think it turned out really nifty...

I used the paper that was lining the bottom of the chocolate box as a template to use for the paper lining both top and bottom. I used SU! designer paper, "Urban Garden", for the word "embellish" I used K*i memories mini alphabet soup and I used Jolee's white flowers for the top lining in the middle of some the flowers in the Urban Garden. I don't know where the ribbon came from...

The top picture is a 6x6 scrap page I created as a door prize...the above picture is the project everyone made at the workshop...
I have to admit that the ideas were not originals...I got the card out of the SU! catalog, I just changed the colors, oh and I used swiss dots on the pink part...I thought it would be an appropriate Mother's day card and the ladies seemed to enjoy making it! And the scrap page was from some other SU! booklet or something...

I think I did a good job explaining the products, but with the economy not much money was spent...which was ok, I had a good time sharing what I love to do...but I don't know if I will be successful as a demonstrator. I have one more trick up my sleeve and if that doesn't take off I'm done...

This dog is sooo sweet and lovable! Here I sit in my freshly madeover scrap/laundry room and he lays at my feet! I really love this dog! Don't get me wrong I love Mollie Joe just as much, but she seems more independent and she would rather lay on her comfy pet bed than on the hard floor. There's nothing like the faithfulness of a dog!!! My cup runneth over...

Operation Organization!!!

My mission this week is to clean my craft/laundry room up. I have done this before, but this time I have some handy helpers. I bought a paper shelving unit and a wall embellishment organizer and I am sooo excited to be utilizing my tiny space more effectively! I will be posting some pictures when I am finished, but alas...it has taken all day yesterday and I am still not finished today...hopefully, tomorrow I will be finished. My living room is a mess! I moved practically everything out of the room and am putting things back with organization in mind! So tootles and I hope you come back and see the transformation!

Here's a bucket that I am choosing to use for a trashcan for my makeover room! Maybe in my next house I may use it to hold towels in a bathroom...the possibilites are endless!

The Pink Elephant Challenge

It's Easter time at the Pink Elephant and so goes the challenge!

Colors: Baja Breeze, Tango Tangerine, Kiwi Kiss, Pacific Blue and Pink Piroutte
Stamp set; Loads of Love and Accessories
Tools: Heating tool, Cuttlebug folders + bug, Cutterbee paper piercer, Nestabilities, Crystal effects

I used iridescent ice embossing powder for the eggs strip and white embossing powder for the "Eggstra" saying. I crystal effected some of the eggs in the truck. I stamped the image on designer paper and also on white paper. Then I popped the truck up using foam dots. I also popped the saying up with foam dots. On the edge of the paper I used a white pen to dot in the scalloped part. I think everything else is self explanatory, but if you have questions I'll be happy to answer any...

I have had an awesome week and hopefully will be able to share some pics with you soon!

We had a great little weekend getaway and have been running ever since! I quit my job and feel like a world or at least a statewide KY traveler! We went to Lexington during the weekend. Then, on Monday, we went to Corbin to a Surplus place that sells flooring for "cheap". And tomorrow, I am going to Glasgow to visit a dear friend of mine, Mary Jane! You probably recognize that name if you've been to my most visited blogs (Mudpies and Butterflies)...she hasn't posted in awhile and I probably should remove her from the list...but I guess I hold out hope. Then, this weekend I am going back to the big city of Lexington!!! Whoohoo! I am sooo thankful I have this freedom...Now when am I going to get to just "sit in front of the TV all day"???? That's what this one guy said when I quit..."Your just going to watch TV 24/7". Yeah, I wish...I would just like some time to do some spring cleaning! Maybe when Clyde is back in school....Unless I get a little froggy, I may not blog till Sunday hopefully to turn my challenge in for the Pink Elephant, then again...I may brag about how awesome my visit was with my friend!! TTFN!

Goodbye Commonwealth Journal...

So my last day of work was today's paper!!! I am so excited! My family and I are taking a little holiday to celebrate...at least, that's how I see it! We are getting out of the this little town for a weekend getaway and can't wait! It's kind of unfortunate timing because there is a BIG production going on this week for our church! They had auditions tonight, and will be practicing all day Saturday and probably some Sunday for the evening play. If anyone wants to come to the play it's called Last Chance. It's at Victory Christian Fellowship, Somerset, KY. It starts on Sunday evening at 6 and Monday-Wednesday at 7:00pm. Oh, did I mention it's free? It's going to be really great! Although, I won't be participating in the acting part, I will be behind the scenes...in the nursery! Come one, come all!!! And GOODBYE COMMONWEALTH JOURNAL!!! This was my longest job...9 years! I never thought I would give these routes up, because they were really great routes, but it was in the best interest of my family that I quit! I pray that God expands us and protects our finances...that's the scariest part...but I'm trusting in His Soverignty and Him leading me/us in this direction, so here I am letting go!!!!!

Ok, I did it again...combined the Pink Elephant challenge with the Cupcake Challenge...

The Pink Elephant's challenge was to use buttons...and the Cupcake Challenge was to use brown + 1 (which was pink, green or blue).
I couldn't help throw in the Kiwi Kiss button! I embossed all the stamp stuff in clear, except for the two flowers by the "thanks" which I did in white on pink pirouette paper. I'm crazy for heat embossing!

I think this card can be used horizonally or vertically...what do you think?

So I've been sitting in my laundry/ craft room and trying to think, think, think what I could possibly do for the Pink Elephant and Cupcake Challenge. I have been in this room since I've been awake and have gotten NOWHERE!!!! I am also thinking of some scrap pages that I need to do for I am going to demonstrate them at the next Foster/Adoption Parent Association meeting. Yeah, right! I actually might do better with the scrapping then the cards at the moment, but I don't even want to touch it! What in the world is wrong with me? I even got my Stampin' Starter kit...you would think I'd want to break that bad boy in, but nooo....

My last day of work was supposed to be Sunday, but....the guy I trained for one of my routes backed out. So for the next week and a half I told them I would do it. It doesn't take quite as long, but I was looking forward to getting a real sleep schedule! Let alone, no more work...then, I thought,"what was I thinking saying I'd do it?" because there's going to be all kinds of tournaments for the next few weeks. What does that mean? It means the paper is going to run crazy late! Oh well, pray for me, that I would get my creative mojo back...Thanks blog world!

Uh, yeah...this was the yarn I was going to use for Mary's scarf when lo and behold...my two lovely rolls of green and pink yarn were sitting innocently on the arm of the couch! And what do I find? This mess! It was actually on the floor when I found it...BBBBAAADDDD Jakey! Thank God it wasn't a scarf yet! I had been having trouble with Mary's scarf...I had a good half of the scarf with pink, only to find out the green is thicker, so I had to start all over! I have a green one made for her instead. So much for my vision...and hello to me spending a lot of time untangling this mess! He has a whole basket of toys, but nooo he has to mess with yarn...what's up with my dogs...I believe they think they are cats!

I can't believe it's been 5 days since I last posted! My camera is not as easy as it used to be...I used to be able to just slide in the SD card, but now it's not working like that, so I have to put the camera on the charger to transfer my pics - which makes my battery run down quicker. I hope I will be more consistent soon! Tonight we had stamp club and had 3 great projects!
The card with the "lime" on it is a sucker holder! Very Cute! Then the one standing up is a "Thank you" card. The picture next to it is a 6x6 scrapbook page! I ordered this stamp set with my starter kit and I am so glad it's coming....tomorrow!!!! Yippeee!

So, Mark and I were sitting on the couch watching the UK vs. Georgia game (boo-hoo)...My dogs were at Marks feet playing with each other when our heater tower was knocked over by Jakey. It spooked Mollie so bad that she leapt 5 feet straight into the air and onto Marks lap!!!! It was so hilarious seeing a 75lb. dog just take a flying leap! And the look of surprise on both Mark and her face, priceless! Mollie looked like "how did I get up here?"; Mark looking like, "what in the world are you doing up here?" Mollie Joe may be 7 years old (49 in human years), but she can move as limber as any cat! I am cracking up just remembering the sight! I wish you could have seen it!

since I've posted! I am sorry it's been awhile...it seems like all I post are cards and scarves...since I haven't made much of either lately there's been nothing to post. I am in a time of transition right now! My last day of work is the 15th of March! Yeah!!!! So soon after that, I am sure I will be posting like crazy, but then again maybe not! I have no idea what will consume my days when I become a stay at home mom. I mean, I have some idea... I just might go crazy cleaning my house! Seeing all the neglected spots which were unseen to these tired eyes! My hopes and expectations are realistic, I think! I'm sure all you veteran moms out there are probably laughing at me, tee hee! It honestly won't be that bad for me, because I have 1 kid and he goes to school, but I do want another foster child or maybe my own (God willing) or both! I just felt this was the direction God was leading our family and I am scared, terrified and excited! I wrote in a previous post that God was telling me to let go and lose control and this was the big part of it! I relied on my own ability to earn money, instead of relying on Him! So here goes...I am jumping off and letting Him catch me and lead me! Go Big Jesus! "For those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and will not faint!" Isaiah 40:31

Or should I say...scarves! I made these two scarves for friends. I also made a baby blue one for a friend that turned out pretty, but I forgot to take a picture! Oops! The scarf of many colors turned out to be a little more colorful than I intended. I was going to make it just green and pink, but like Clyde's scarf, I forgot I needed two of the same color to make it look good and full. So I used a fuzzy yarn that had many colors in it and it drowned out the pretty pink and green. The scarf on the right is for my friend Lori, and I used black yarn with charcoal eyelash yarn. I love, love, love the eyelash yarn! It feels sooo good! Needless to say, I love the Nifty Knitter! So far I have made 6 scarves. My sis-in-law is going to a craft show and she's going to let me throw some scarves in with their stuff! Who knows I may be able to make a little money, doing something I love!

...like you are making the same card over and over again? I feel like I am in a creative rut and can't get out...This is an invite to Clyde's birthday party, but I am wondering if it's too blah...I wanted to color the dog, but it wouldn't look good because it's dry embossed. If you have any suggestions on how to perk this thing up, please help!!!! I'm in a funk... Is this too young for a 13 year old's party? I am semi-new at this parenting stuff... This was supposed to serve as the Color Throwdown Challenge as well, but I am not sure I want to display this one for a challenge.

I was wanting to make half black and half orange, but I needed 2 rolls of each color to make it thick and didn't have it...I will do it one day. Half one color and half another...

Birdseed Biscuit

I thought this was a fun and cute craft...found in Family Fun magazine.

This recipe makes two 3 inch biscuits or a single 4 inch biscuit. Mix together 3/4 cup of birdseed, 1 tablespoon of flour, and 2 tablespoons water. Spray or wipe cookie cutter with oil and place it on a foil covered cookie sheet. Pack the mixture into the cutter, inserting half a straw near the top to create a hole for hanging. Bake the biscuit (with straw) in a 170* oven until the biscuit is hard, about one hour. Let it cool. Remove the straw, thread a ribbon through the hole, and hang it outside in a sheltered spot.

I used to not let dogs on the couch, but....when Rocky died, I spoiled Mollie and was needing some comfort of my own and started letting her up on the couch with me. I didn't change our cuddling when Jake came into the picture, just added more cuddling!!! Now, Jake on our pillows is a NO! No! We do let them on the bed, but we have a "dog" sheet they are to sleep on. I came in from out of the kitchen and found him on our pillows! Naughty, cute, little (or not so little anymore) puppy!

Thanks Mary for praying! Since no else has commented I am guessing you were the only one. We met both appointments and even had an hour to spare in between!!! We found all the places without a problem, praise God. I felt more at home in the big city. I felt I could conquer anything. It was great...Clyde was a perfect gentlemen, except for the few farts he let escape, gasp...he really was a good boy today! We ended up eating at Ted's Montana Grill, Yummy! They have the best homemade pickles that they give you as a teaser....mmmmmm! Anyway, Praise God from whom all blessings flow! It's to the UK hospital again for an all day venture. Please pray we will make both appointments so we won't have to make another trip! Plus, Clyde is getting an ultrasound and isn't allowed to eat for 8 hours...poor kid! That appointment is at 5 pm. I have been doing a lil' soul searching and haven't been blogging. It was refreshing! God is leading my family and I into a place of trusting Him more...and it's scary. I have been counting on my own strength (ashamedly) and it's plum worn me out! So here's a verse that has spoken to me and hope it encourages/speaks to you..." So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For in just a very little while, 'He who is coming will come and will not delay. But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him.' But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who believe and are saved." Hebrews 10:35-39 So this year...we are moving forward in what God has for our family and I am sure He will hold us in His hand as long as we are holding onto Him!

Mark and I had a date tonight and went to see 7lbs. It was oook. I was actually bored out of my mind for the first hour and figured out what was going to happen before the halfway mark...the 2nd half was at least moving. I normally do like dramas, but I don't know if I was in a mood for something with action, funny or what. Anyway, I personally, don't recommend it...Mark, what do you say?...I don't recommend it, it was different, but I wouldn't see it again. So there you have it our humble opinions. So, our tradition on Christmas is to go to the movies in the evening, guess what we saw? Marley and Me...it was great! There were a few too many cuss words and sexual inuendos for my 12 year old, but other than that really good! I was inspired by the movie and thought...maybe I should write a book about Mollie and Me...then, I thought, Naw! It would be boring because she is soooo good! Not moments after I had this thought when we came home and what do we find???? Mollie Joe had eaten an entire package of dog treats, those fresh greenies....at least her breath smelt good! Well, Mark and I did our paper route pretty much at the same time this morning and when Mark got home, the Mischievous Mollie struck again!!! This time she ate 2 of those orange chocolate slice balls, about 13 chocolates (my fault...I left the chocolates on the arm of the couch, in my rush to go deliver those papers!!!) and was about ready to tear into another 1lb of dog cookies!!! But anyway, it has been sooo long since she's been bad, we forgot she could do such a thing! Giggle, giggle! She's alive so far and thank God the chocolate was milk and not dark, but oh my gosh...that silly, now fat dog! Still love her! Here's her feast...

In case you're wondering if it could have been the puppy...nope, we crate him up when we leave. So it wasn't Crazy Jakey! It was Mischievous Mollie!

In case you didn't know, I am a paper carrier and these are what I racked up...I think I have 12 boxes, or tins of candy!!! Probably more because I forgot some homemade stuff! Hey, at least someone threw in something I could use after the New Year! See the 60 calorie Hershey sticks? I thought that was funny! They must have seen me and knew I needed it! Ha! My husband is a carrier too. We also got some monies which we are saving to get a bigger TV! Whoo hoo! Another carrier, received 1,000 dollars from ONE person!!! I think I need that route! Tee hee! Anyway, we won't clear that much from over 700 customers!!! But I won't complain...it's sooo much better than last year! Hopefully, this time next year I will be a stay at home mom! Maybe in a new house and a couple more foster kids! Wouldn't that be lovely?

The time has come for us to make a decision regarding whether or not we are going to adopt Clyde...please pray that we will make the right decision! Of course, we are leaning to "yes" but it's scary!

Things have been ridiculously busy! I am sorry I haven't blogged. I am sure you all can relate...hopefully, I'll be back tomorrow...Now, on this tin. I stamped the penguins and colored it, on the scarf I clear embossed it. I used the cuttlebug for the the strips of paper with the snowflake pattern and swiss dots (my fave). On top of the snowflakes I versa markered them and used sparkling embossing powder. I used the small oval punch for the be merry (clear embossed) and the large oval punch for the underneath layer (snowflake embossed). I tied some ribbon and there you have it!
