Wow! One word that sums up this weekend of Jill Savage. I was working on about 6 hours sleep in 48 hours and went to a Mother's conference at my church. It was well worth the lost sleep! My spirit is rejuvenated and received some real tokens! Thank you Jesus!
Here are some things that I learned:
The first 20 years of a persons life lays the foundation for the next 80 years. Hmmm...didn't know that, interesting.
Your home is a "safe house and trauma unit". Your kids need to feel that they can go home from the world and not get criticized, or teased, but just be loved. If something happens to them that is "traumatizing" helping them get thru it without wanting to rush their grief or disappointment is a must.
There was something fun she does (which I may implement) and it's called a "Surprise Ride". When everyone is at home, she says "Surprise Ride" and everyone has like 5 minutes to get in the car, where they go to some place fun, like putt-putt, bowling, or the park. It's important to remember to have fun with your kids! It seems like lately, all I do is ground and I hate it! It's not fun for him or us!
If there is a Y in the road, choose life! You have a choice to extend grace and forgiveness. There are many times I forget how imperfect we all are, but I am going to try and make a conscious decision to choose life! Believe me God is soooo good to me in that regard, oh and everything else!
